AE is the Brazil largest real-time financial news agency providing AE Broadcast terminals to finance professionals and a general newswire service (text, photo, video, custom publishing & events). Leandro was AE Management Team member reporting to The Estado de São Paulo Media Group’s CEO, Publisher & Shareholder. Grupo Estado is one of Brazil’s largest on-line & print media companies publishing the most influential Brazilian daily newspaper, Estadão. Leandro managed a P&L of R$140 million with a 31% EBITDA margin. Leandro implemented tax planning strategies, which saved more than R$20 million on a defensible basis. Before running AE, Leandro was the Finance Manager for Vital Renewable Energy Company (VREC) based in Sao Paulo, Brazil. VREC established at the end of 2008 with the aim of investing in the Brazilian sugar-energy industry - production of ethanol, sugar and energy. VREC is backed by institutional investors in the United States, Europe and the Middle East, including Paladin Capital Group, Leaf Clean Energy, Petercam, and Capital Dynamics. Leandro participated in merger and acquisition projects to invest in a broad range of new projects in Brazil related to ethanol and energy generation with a funding at around US$ 1 billion. Leandro was the Finance Coordinator for Thomson Financial Latin America from 2005 until 2008; this was a start-up, which he grew from ~ US$3 million to US$10 million. Thomson Financial was an arm of information provider Thomson Corporation. On April 2008 The Thomson Corporation merged with Reuters and created the new company Thomson Reuters. Leandro's geographical areas of responsibility included Mexico, Central America and South America where he drove the corporate finance with better information for decision-making through greater transparency and more reliable data. He reported to the Controller, CEO and to the CFO at Thomson Financial's headquarters in New York, NY. Before joining Thomson, Leandro worked at Farnell-Newark InOne (FNIO) for 2 years. FNIO is a global high-service distributor of technology products, services and solutions for electronic system design, maintenance and repair. Leandro simplified, systemized and standardized operational, financial and tax processes. From 2000 until 2003 Leandro worked at the global leader in workforce solutions Manpower as Cost Analyst. During this period, he was responsible for budgeting and internal controls. Leandro was the Budget Analyst for NEC Brasil from 2002 until 2003. NEC provides integrated information and communication technology solutions. In 2001 NEC decided to sell to Celestica the Brazilian manufacturing operation as part of its strategy to focus on developing Internet business solutions, and expanding its network integration and systems integration businesses. In 2011 NEC Brasil changed its name to NEC Latin America S.A. and operates as a subsidiary of NEC Corporation. He worked closely with the Planning team, executing the plans for growing the business, driving productivity improvements and supporting key initiatives / projects. His key deliverables included operational planning, goals, KPI metrics, bridges, and forecast updates together with ad hoc tasks. Leandro participated in the Reengineering process with excellent results. Leandro joined Hewlett-Packard Brasil (HP Brasil) from Makro. HP Brasil is a subsidiary of US-based computer maker Hewlett-Packard. He was the Cost Analyst for HP from 1998 until 2000. The company sells, markets, manufactures, and services a wide range of technology products and office equipment. HP Brasil also offers such IT services as consulting, product integration, and technical support.. Leandro was in charge of cost analysis of imported components to support the demand of Costumer Service activities. Leandro was an outstanding employee recognized in July 1999 for his contributions to various operational efficiency improvement projects. Earlier in his career, Martins was Corporate Finance Analyst at Makro Atacadista. He worked for Makro for 8 years. Makro is a cash-and-carry wholesaler aiming to supply wide variety of products in food, perishable and non-Food. Leandro was an ex officio of the Board of Trustees and initiated Projeto EducAção the adoption of São Paulo State public school “Matão” in the Casa Verde neighborhood: a rewarding community service project involving AE volunteers & high school students. In 2016 Leandro volunteered for Three Square serving the Clark Count in Nevada, USA. Three Square sources food and raises funds to supply many program partners with the food and services they need to provide wholesome food directly to hungry people. Leandro was in charge for sorting and repackaging meals for kids in school programs. Leandro was born in 16/April/1974. He is originally from Sao Paulo and member of a traditional family in Guaxupé, located in the southern Minas Gerais, Brazil. He married to Paula Borges Martins, a recognized executive in the national pharmaceutical industry and father of one girl. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in 1999 from the Universidade Paulista in Business Administration. He did MBA in Corporate Finance at FGV in 2003 and most recently completed the MBA in Markets and Business Management in ESPM in 2015. Leandro resides full time in the Saude in SP, Brazil, likes to spend time taking random walks with no destination in mind to brings out the positive vibes. He used to play Volleyball from the time that he was in school. He also was a high level judoka participating in several local tournaments.
